We’re doing things a little differently this year. Our festival team is quite small and we are unable to manage printing and inventory of merch sales ourselves, so we’re using Threadless to be able to be able to make Hawai‘i Island Festival of Birds gear possible! This means that you can order your merch early and enjoy it now, rather than have to wait until festival time. Also, proceeds from sales go towards putting on the festival. About the Artwork
The amazing artwork for the 2023 Festival shines a light on the biodiversity of Hawai‘i and highlights the intersection of biological and cultural significance of our native bird species. The artwork was created by award-winning artist Joanna Maney, winner of the 2022-2023 Hawai‘i Conservation Stamp art contest. Joanna is a talented artist and all-around wonderful human being who is dedicated to the conservation and survival of native birds in Hawai‘i. She has a remarkable ability to produce both extremely photorealistic drawings and also the cutest cartoony Hawaiian birbs.
