Rainforest & Dry Forest Birding Adventure w/Pau Hana Dinner

Departs Sheraton Kona at 6:00am.

Nestled high above the island’s shoreline, the dense rainforest of Hakalau is home to some of the world’s rarest plants and animals. Join us as we focus on the incredible history of Hawaii’s endemic flora and fauna, and search for rare birds.

Later that evening, you’ll be transported to Waiki`i Ranch Clubhouse along the Saddle Road to join our Pau Hana Dinner event. Enjoy this closing dinner in the company of other festival participants and speakers.

Target Species include: Hawaiian Goose (Nene), Hawaiian Hawk (`Io), Short-eared Owl (Pueo), Hawai`i `Elepaio (island endemic), Hawaiian Thrush (`Oma`o, island endemic), `Apapane (endemic), `I`iwi (endemic), `Akiapola`au (island endemic), Hawai`i `Amakihi (island endemic), Hawai’i `Akepa (island endemic), Japanese Bush-Warbler, Chinese Hwamei, Red-billed Leiothrix

Note: Participants must be able to hike up to 3 miles over uneven or rocky terrain, we may encounter cool, wet or muddy conditions.
